Charlottesville is home to more than 50 life sciences companies and organizations employing hundreds of people engaged in developing therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, and other products and services to improve human health. With the innovation and intellectual firepower of the University of Virginia, proximity to Washington, D.C., and unparalleled quality of life for young professionals and families, the industry has incredible potential for advancement of its entrepreneurial growth engine for the region.

The CvilleBioHub, a 501 (c) (6) organization, was created to inform and connect the biotech and life sciences community, to provide pathways for growth and to promote the area as a center for this dynamic industry. Current conservative estimates identify the following economic impacts: $118M invested in local companies, $17M in revenue generated in 2016, and over $4M raised in competitive grant funding over the last five years. CvilleBioHub is comprised of over 50 partners as membership is made up of private-sector biotechnology companies, non-profit life science and health care organizations.
