Chamber Business Diversity Council
Topic: 'A Meeting with the Mayor'
Speaker: Charlottesville Mayor Nikuyah Walker
Mayor Nikuyah Walker made history when she became the City of Charlottesville's first black female mayor. She was also the first independent candidate to be elected to city council since the 1940s. She uses her voice, power and influence to challenge and change the political, social and racial status quos that often harm the marginalized and oppressed.
Mayor Walker will speak about public leadership, leading through / following a crisis, her journey from Citizen Walker to Mayor Walker, taking professional / personal risks, her initiatives for the minority business community, and more. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.
The purpose of the Chamber Business Diversity Council is to grow and support minority businesses by facilitating the startup of new businesses and the successful running of existing businesses.
Monthly meetings, which are open to everyone, include networking, guest speakers, activities and more.
Chamber events are brought to you by our Partners in Trust.
