CADRe Meeting: Affordable Housing Tax Abatement

CADRe members, your input is needed! Join us to discuss the concept of an affordable housing tax abatement in Charlottesville.

In April, the Charlottesville City Council held a work session to hear a staff presentation and discuss the idea of creating an Affordable Housing Tax Abatement Program.

As follow-up to that discussion, city staff is conducting research to consider the feasibility of such a program. In performing a due diligence review, city staff and their consultant will conduct a Charlottesville market analysis and a detailed local data review to determine if an abatement is needed or warranted in this housing construction market.

On Monday, June 30, 2025 at 1:30pm at CitySpace, the Chamber Charlottesville Area Development Roundtable (CADRe) will hold a meeting with staff from the Charlottesville City Housing Program together with their research and consulting team.

CADRe members are encouraged to attend and participate in this community engagement session to discuss the concept of an affordable housing tax abatement, to share input from CADRe members, and to consider the data needed for this market analysis.
