About Us

Fred Astaire Dance Studios Charlottesville is on Allied Street, about five minutes from the Downtown Mall. Vladyslav and Nika Dolya own and run the studio. Most people who walk through our door have never danced a step in their lives, and that is the normal starting point here, not the exception.

We teach ballroom dance lessons in Charlottesville for adults at every level. Private lessons, group classes for beginners, and weekly practice parties where you try out what you learned without anyone grading you. No partner needed, no audition, and comfortable shoes are fine for a first lesson.

The list is long, so here it is by family. Ballroom: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep. Latin: Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Bachata, Samba, Mambo, Bolero, Paso Doble. Swing: East Coast, West Coast, Jive, Hustle. We also teach Argentine Tango.

Wedding dance lessons are a big part of what we do. With us, you will perform your wedding dance with fun and no stress, built around your song and how much time you have. Most couples start three to four months before the date.

Whichever you have in mind, new students begin with two private 30-minute lessons for $60, which includes a tour of the studio and a look at what a program would involve. Engaged couples can start with a single 30-minute wedding lesson for $45.
