Opportunity

AHIP seeks an energetic and versatile Program Director to provide leadership, strategic direction, and
management for AHIP's programs and services. The Program Director creates, coordinates, and improves
AHIP's construction service delivery efforts and program infrastructure. Key elements of this position include
organizational planning; project management; program implementation, budgeting, and improvement;
evaluation; and partnership cultivation. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director and directly
supervises two program managers and a volunteer manager. He or she will work in close partnership with the
Executive Director, fundraising and marketing staff, program and rehab staff, and the CFO. AHIP values a
collaborative, creative, and flexible environment. This is a new, full-time position at AHIP.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversees annual and long-term programmatic planning, goal-setting, and tracking
  • Oversees current construction and volunteer programs
  • Develops new initiatives and improves existing programs, with an eye toward boosting impact, reach, client/community relations, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Assists with grant applications and budget development for new and current initiatives
  • Coordinates program reporting and funding source compliance
  • Conducts target-area rehab project planning, project management, and state/federal grantwriting
  • Explores, cultivates, and oversees programmatic partnerships
  • Connects with with local and state policymakers and advocacy organizations, identifies and pursues public funding opportunities, and advocates for AHIP clients, preservation, and affordable housing
  • Works with program staff to ensure data integrity and quality reporting
  • Works with the Director of Marketing & Communications on data visualization (surveys, dashboards, maps, etc.)
  • Represents AHIP in the community by giving presentations, leading tours, attending functions, and interacting with the media
  • Offers active and creative leadership for the organization at large
Skills, knowledge, abilities
  • Three to five years of program coordination/project management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact and engage with a diverse constituency: clients, community members, volunteers, peer organizations, and donors
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills
  • Excellent community engagement, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills
  • Construction knowledge and experience preferred
  • Familiarity with program databases (Apricot experience a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree

make homes safer, healthier, and more affordable and to preserve and protect affordable homes and local
